The skills needed are not that complex, because you will be working with nature and nature teaches us about it as we spend more time with it. You can watch your plants, and they will tell you or give you signs of how they need to be worked with and cared for. But you will of course need some basic info and education about doing a landscape project, and this you can get easily and for free, by using the library, your local landscape supply companies, and the bookstore or internet. The more you learn, and the more you practice what you learn, the sooner you will become a skilled and masterful landscaper.
